Green Lizard Connectors
Something really exciting is happening on The Lizard. It is reawakening! Nature is recovering. Through the efforts of community members and organisations on The Lizard, including the National Trust, Natural England, Cornwall Natural Landscapes, The University of Exeter and the National Farmer’s Union, 28% of the land is now nature friendly. This is a long way towards the national ambition of 30% of the land being nature friendly by 2030. We can get there early! There is now a plan for Reawakening The Lizard
which includes small, medium and large scale projects. Everyone can participate, whether this is Eat The Lizard (the project to encourage buying locally grown food), having a nature friendly back garden or large scale projects for nature recovery. It is being driven by Wildlife Groundswell with the increasing support of the Natural Lizard partners. We at Wildlife Groundswell have started an initiative we are calling Green Lizard Connectors. This is a 90 minute training where community members can find out more about the Reawakening The Lizard plan and see how they can join in. Talking about it to friends and neighbours is really important! It is the best way to let everyone know about the amazing work going on supporting nature, from flowerpots to farmland, from coast to coast. The irreversible decline of nature is not inevitable. Come and be part of the solution, not the problem. If you are interested in becoming a Green Lizard Connector and get an exciting badge to show your friends, let us know and look out for training coming to your area soon.
