Green Lizard Connectors

Something really exciting is happening on The Lizard……

It is reawakening! Nature is recovering.

Thanks to the efforts of community members and organisations on The Lizard, including the National Trust, Natural England, Cornwall Natural Landscapes, The University of Exeter, and the National Farmer’s Union, 28% of the land is now nature friendly. This is a significant step towards the national goal of 30% of land being nature friendly by 2030. We can reach this target early!

A plan for Reawakening The Lizard has been developed, featuring small, medium, and large-scale projects. Everyone can participate—whether through Eat The Lizard, a project encouraging the purchase of locally grown food, creating a nature-friendly backyard, or contributing to larger nature recovery initiatives.

This movement is driven by Wildlife Groundswell with growing support from Natural Lizard partners. At Wildlife Groundswell, we have launched an initiative called Green Lizard Connectors. This 90-minute training offers community members the chance to learn more about the Reawakening The Lizard plan and discover ways to get involved.

Spreading the word to friends and neighbours is crucial—it is the best way to highlight the amazing work supporting nature, from flowerpots to farmland, coast to coast.

The irreversible decline of nature is not inevitable. Join us and be part of the solution, not the problem.

If you are interested in becoming a Green Lizard Connector and earning an exciting badge to share with your friends, please let us know and watch for training sessions coming to your area soon.
