EAT The Lizard survey results
A big thank you to everyone who filled in our first EAT The Lizard survey this spring, to gauge the appetite for a new food, farming and community project on The Lizard peninsula. We were really pleased to get over 100 responses in a short space of time – read on to discover some initial findings…
The idea for this survey was a quick straw poll to see how local people felt about eating local food, supporting local farmers, and what was most important to them. At this stage it wasn’t about in-depth research – more something that was quick, easy and instinctive to fill in and share with family and friends. You can still see the survey questions (and fill it in if you haven’t already) here.
To kick it all off, we shared the survey through the Wildlife Groundswell email list, with 58 people responding. We then broadened it out for a wider perspective, inviting everyone who’d already filled it in to share it with 3 other people who lived on The Lizard. So it started to spread among neighbours, friends and school WhatsApp groups etc – getting another 48 responses.
Here are the results from the first 106 respondents. There was lots more interesting insight and experience shared in the comments too, but we’ll save those for a series of gatherings we’re planning soon.
Following some gatherings and conversations we’re planning to have with our communities, farmers and food producers in the coming months, we’d like to adapt the survey and share it much more widely this autumn – with a goal of 1,000 responses.
